The working group published their recommendations that the inexperienced GDP should be trained and practiced in clinical assessment and treatment planning and that placement of implants should be in the presence of an experienced implant clinician (Coach) as part of a course. As a result the coaching should continue until the experienced clinician considers the practitioner to be competent.
This key area of Clinician education provides an opportunity for Astra Tech to support the growth and educational development level of GDP training and create dentists who are able to recognise, refer for surgery and offer restorative treatment to their patients.
We have 76 Clinical Coaches to form the centres of our regional training and study clubs while offering an Astra Tech Implant System focused referral network. We have created a 3 module programme based around our network of Clinical Coaches. This 3 module programme covers the introductory information required by Clinicians new to implant dentistry.
