Since the start of the first clinical study on the Astra Tech Implant System at the Karolinska University Hospital in Sweden in 1985, over 25 years have passed, during which Astra Tech has continuously maintained its commitment to research and scientific documentation. As of 2011, a new mile stone has been reached; a total of 500 articles have been published in renowned peer-reviewed scientific journals. The articles have been written by authors from different countries all over the world, and have been scrutinized by an independent editorial board in the respective journal before being accepted for publication. The first article was published already in 1990 and Astra Tech is now celebrating the publication of article number 500 (in April 2011).

As many as 48 articles reports from clinical, long-term follow-up studies on Astra Tech implants i.e. with 5 years or longer observation periods, and from a wide range of therapies, including implant insertion in extraction sockets, the application of early and immediate loading protocols.

In view of this extensive scientific literature, the Astra Tech Implant System can be seen as one of the best documented implant systems available on the market today.
